Artist: Heyoka Merrifield

Heyoka Merrifield is a jeweler, sculptor and author living in southwest Montana. In 2004 he was commissioned by Barbie Burgess to create a pendant inspired by the Spanish Dancer, a painting that "comes to life" each year at Fiesta Finale - a performance offered free to the public by the Profant Foundation. The flamenco dancer is exquisitely recreated in silver on an onyx background, including the Courthouse arch ways and full moon.

"Not a gem nor precious metal passes through Heyoka's hands that is not instilled with a spirit of its own in the process of being transformed into a work of art and beauty." George Harrison

"Heyoka Merrifield's jewelry expresses the magic and power of symbols. Drawn from the iconography of Native American, pre-Columbian, Egyptian, and other Old World cultures, his symbols and materials are meant to meld together into ornaments that both protect and adorn."  Robert Liu: from an article in Ornament magazine

While living in the remote Northwest he has continued to make pieces for the celebrities that have collected his work over the years. A few of his notable collectors are: Joan Baez, Carol Burnett, Glenn Campbell, Cher, Neil Diamond, Michael Jackson, George Harrison, Stevie Nicks, Joni Mitchell, Ringo Starr, and Cheryl Tiegs. The galleries where his work may be viewed are Ornamente / Santa Fe, NM. and Aaron Fabor, New York.
